Who would have guessed--the "Dogs of Dons' Place" calendars
Who would have guessed- the "Dogs of Dons' Place" calendars have turned out to be a hot item. We have sold out of them and had to order more. We are going to donate 5$ of every calendar purchase to the Florida Keys SPCA. I had a lot of fun putting this together and have decided to make a calendar with pictures of our two legged customers also. I haven't spent much time at the bar lately as I've been busy with school activities. For example, this past weekend alone, I attended a middle school band concert, two middle school basketball games, and the middle school Relay for Life program. All were great and the boys won the basketball tournament. My good friends and fellow teachers, Tracy and Randy, were the coaches of the boys' team and they did such a great job. They donated their time after school to work with the boys since we don't have organized middle school sports in Key West, due to the expense. Don, a former school coach himself, is planning to sponsor the team with a little financial backing so they can travel to Marathon and Sugarloaf to compete. School is winding down for the week and I will then be on a two week vacation. Then I can spend a little more time at Dons' Place with my daughters who are driving down from Chicago and Indiana and all of our Dons' Place friends. Tonight is Fat Tuesday's Christmas party so I have to go say hello to Dave and Alysia. Dave is the manager of Fat Tuesdays and a good friend of Don's, even though they have a rivalry between the Bills' fan and the Patriots' fan. I can't wait until the next Bills/Patriots matchup.
The girls and I had so much fun during the Walk on Caroline that we are going to try to duplicate our fun. Karen, Julie and I are going to meet at Out of the Blue, my favorite new restaurant, and then head down White Street for Walk on White this Thursday. There is so much to do in Key West that it is physically impossible to fit everything in. I always say Key West has all of the excitement and fun of a big city, minus the crime, traffic, and expense. And those of you who complain about traffic forget what it is like to commute to work in rush hour city traffic at 5:00 in the evening. Key West traffic is a cake walk compared to that. So quit complaining and enjoy this great little city--especially here at holiday time. Until next week........
